Religion is something that has been losing its strength throughout the years. In the story A Good Man Is Hard To Find this idea is rakish important. While the main character tries to use religion to precisely herself, the antagonist questions it. The first character in the store is the grandmother. She is an vexatious woman who comes off immediately as selfish and lumpen of other people and their own desires. She is also highly disingenuous and oblivious of events happening around her such as the remainder of her own grandchildren and son. Using her consumption to nab what she wants, she ultimately destroys the lives of herself and her family by taking them literally down the wrong path. She is not an extremely religious person, but at the end of the story, she uses religion in a way to try to save herself from the Misfit and achieves grace estimable before he shoots her. With being selfish, the grandmother isn’t the circulate woman in the world and just before she is shot, she realizes that selfishness and use will not always work and that other may need to be reached out to and might need help. “The grandmothers uncertainty cleared for an instant.”(p.10). The will of others might outweigh her own and that no matter how hard she tries in the end, she will not delineate what she wants this time with the Misfit.

When he shoots the grandmother, the Misfit becomes the proper man that the grandmother said was hard to find.
